It can be hard sometimes to find the time, space and skills you need to sit, self-reflect and objectively review how things are going. Finding a compatible, trained counsellor, coach, skilled psychologist or other helper who is the right professional touchstone for you, can be a huge support.


Decades of psychological research have shown receiving objective, and focussed attention has positive impacts on health and wellbeing. Meeting with an individual support person is often a great help to those who are struggling with challenging circumstances, experiencing change, or searching for a different pathway forward.


At Wellselves, you will find a supporter who is there to listen, help you skilfully summarise your needs, suggest interventions and encourage new perspectives and ideas. The main aim of individual support is to help you build your skills so you can confidently assess your own choices and plans as your future life path develops, alters and grows.


Psychological Therapies

Collaborating with a psychologist can enhance your ability to manage challenges and swiftly identify effective strategies for improving your wellbeing. Psychologists are trained professionals in mental and emotional wellness, utilizing established therapeutic techniques to evaluate unusual or distressing feelings and thoughts.


All therapeutic methods used by our psychologists adhere to professional treatment guidelines. They engage in ongoing training in selected psychotherapies, which must be evidence-based and proven effective.


Registered and experienced psychologists, who have undergone nearly a decade of education and training, can only use their professional title if registered with the Australian Health Regulation Authority. To maintain their registration, they are required to regularly update and practice their assessment and therapeutic skills.


Counselling 

Counselling usually starts with a specific, often present issue, exploring it to deepen the client's understanding. The counsellor supports the client, offers new insights, and aims to lessen the impact of distressing situations. It allows clients to progress at their own pace in recognizing and expressing their vulnerable areas, which they may only partially see when feeling upset.


Life Coaching

Life coaching focuses on solutions, strengths, and building confidence and curiosity. It's often used by individuals who are generally well but facing transformative life phases. It identifies strengths, motivations, and goals.


A crucial aspect of coaching is recognizing ineffective past patterns and exploring new strategies for implementation. It aids clients in minimizing negative thought patterns and revealing hidden obstacles.
